Mario Arturo Moreno Ivanova’s Achievements

Mario Arturo Moreno Ivanova, an award-winning Mexican actor who first made a name on telenovelas before gaining international acclaim for his work in feature films, has been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.

Moreno Ivanova is best known internationally for his roles in Los Perros del Mar (1982), The Burning Plain (1984), and Ya no sé qué hacer (1994). He has also appeared in several works by Alejandro Jodorowsky, including El Topo (1971) and The Holy Mountain (1973). His stage work includes performances of Anton Chekhov’s play Uncle Vanya and Tennessee Williams’ Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.

Born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Moreno Ivanova studied at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and became involved with theatre at an early age. In 1971 he made his cinematic debut in Alejandro Jodorowsky’s El Topo. He followed this with roles in The Burning Plain and Ya no sé qué hacer. More recently, he has starred in critically acclaimed films such as Amores Perros (2000), Y tu mamá también (2001), Car Racer (2001), Battle Royale II: Requiem (2007), and Nostalgia for the Light Years (2008).

His Life and Career

Mario Arturo Moreno Ivanova was born in Buenavista de Tajín, Veracruz, Mexico on October 15, 1940. He is best known for his role as General Obispo Alejandro Arizmendi on the internationally successful telenovela Soy Tu Amigo (2003-2006). Moreno also appeared in films such as Claudia and Un chico feo (1999).

Moreno has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including a Golden Globe Award and two Emmys nominations. In 2001 he was honoured with a Nobel Prize in Literature for his work chronicling the experience of the construction of the Mexican national railroad in the nineteenth century.
Since retiring from acting, Moreno has devoted his time to writing and poetry. He currently resides in Mexico City.

Ivanova is best known for her acclaimed play, “Tres Mujeres”, which has been translated into over fifty languages and won numerous awards.
Ivanova is also a noted author of short stories and novels. She has been nominated for the prestigious award multiple times but has yet to win.
