Why Does Star Studies Exist?

Why do we put celebrities on a pedestal? What is it that makes us want to look up to these people? These questions are unanswerable because they are surely unfathomable as to why people look up to stars. Hollywood stars are just people who are doing a job. Their job is entertainment for the rest of us, and people still look up to them as role models or people of inspiration, but surely this is a bit over the top?BRAVECTO COUPONS FOR CATS MEDICINE

You get people who obsess over a popstar or an actor who seem to think that this person walks across the planet as a god, even though the only thing they provide the rest of us with is entertainment. The same goes for athletes, we treat them as an entity in themselves even though all they provide us with is entertainment.

Star Studies

There was a term that was stated at university a few years back and that is the aforementioned title ‘Star Studies’; this is now a respected position in film companies around the world and what their job is to do is study the effect ‘stars’ have on society. Why is it that stars have such an affect upon society? Why is it that we are so inspired by characters that are written by someone else, then portrayed by a particular actor/actress? Then what so many people proceed to do is to put this actor or actress in a stereotype of what type of characters they play, rather than actually considering what they are like as a person. In honesty, we should all realise that it is highly unlikely that they are actually anything like the characters they play.

It is an odd aspect to think of someone so highly for being able to play different characters, why do people not think people of intelligence as stars? where are the idols that benefit society around us? They are in the background doing jobs they enjoy not looking for people to look at them as stars, and surely an idol or inspirational person is someone who has done something or a few things that are great advances on society

people who discovered things and changed the way we think about science, technology or psychology. An example of a great man is Edward Lorenz, a meteorologist who founded chaos theory after noticing strange attractors and coined the term the butterfly effect but he was never renowned for it until later.

Deserved recognition

There is a type of person deserves great recognition, yet instead society chooses to focus on creating this aura around celebrities. Of course they shouldn’t be frowned upon or not looked up to, but not looked at in a way where they are the pivotal point in a society, where they gain a vast amount of wealth from a job.

Of course this doesn’t just apply to actors/actress, it also applies to popstars, artists, musicians, athletes etc. Too many within society continue to look up to the likes of One Direction who are not even artists,

they are the world’s biggest marketing strategy and everyone falls for it, the ideology is all wrong and those within an advanced society like ours should be looking towards people who help us, advance us, and people who make a true difference.

Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be the case and there is an argument that marketing is killing independent thought, everyone knows that marketing firms study psychology and sociology to gain that extra mile to lure consumers. This idea has been applied by a significant number of large producers to push what they think can sell.

As previously stated, we should praise them for their talents and they should be rewarded as well as anyone with a specialised talent, but to earn more than those who save lives? Earn more than those risk their lives for us? Earn more than those who make life changing discoveries?

These aspects are celebrated but still often go under the radar. Perhaps this is a good thing as people who do their job are not celebrities irrespective of what that entails. Privacy is

important for everyone and a guarded private life should be available for everyone. Nevertheless, those who do something important should be rewarded well and we should look to them as inspiration, so that we can all think for ourselves.
